Oklahoma Community Emergency Response Team (CERT)

The Oklahoma Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) is a group of Oklahomans that have received training in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization, and disaster medical operations. This group uses their  CERT classroom or exercise training to help others in their neighborhood, workplace, or school after an event when professional responders are not immediately available to help.

Since amateur radio and emergency response typically go hand-in-hand, hams find this training very beneficial in their life-long learning plan. CERT holds these classes around the state, and the CERT web page is a great place to learn when and where to find these classes.

The emergency management teams of both Moore and Norman are very active in the CERT program and offer classes frequently.

Any SCARS member or Cleveland County ARES member that takes a CERT class should forward a copy of their certificate to Emergency Coordinator Mark Kleine N5HZR for documentation in their ARES training file.
